There are times that come along, that really show us what we're made of.
In July 2021, many in South Africa witnessed what can rise out of the ashes of conflict and destruction. Communities, neighbors and people came together to help each other in unprecedented ways!
There are hundreds, if not thousands of stories, from that time. Stories of people people helping each other, of miracles. Today I will tell one of these stories.
During the riots, protests and shut down of parts of South Africa, a business in Botha's Hill, Kwazulu-Natal called Talloula (an events and conference venue, spa and cafe) made their place available for local farmers and food makers to provide food for the community while the shops and stores were closed. This provided not only a place for people to buy food, but also an outlet for farmers and suppliers who had suddenly lost their place in the food supply chain.
Below is a picture by Talloula showing their solidarity and ethos. In many ways, this photo was part of the inspiration for Growing Hope.
