“Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and it must be taken one step at a time.” ~ Lyndon B. Johnson
Our journey began in July 2021. The world was just beginning to settle into the ‘new normal’ brought on by the Covid 19 pandemic. Sadly, the new reality was more challenging than what we anticipated, because many were left without a household income, which caused a lot of hopelessness.
Growing Hope was created in response to these challenges. By growing their own food, we hoped to help the South African youth become more self-reliant. Permaculture promotes peace through education and food empowerment for communities.
'Mission 2022' was born to kick-start Growing Hope's vision, the plan is to plant one food garden for every week of the year in 2022 in South African schools - which is 52 garden and 52 permaculture classes for a group of children at the school. We're planting seeds in the ground and the minds of the future generation.
